What causes a Mass Air Flow Meter to go bad?
The most caused MAF failures are dirt, oil contamination and air filters often shed pager fibers that accumulate on the heated wire and resistor assembly, etc.
Important: Recommend use specially formulated MAF sensor cleaner. Using carburetor cleaner or other harsh solvent will destroy the sensitivity of the sensor.
